Description

WOW, after a 2 hr drive out of Phoenix, including 20 miles of back roads, (bumpy, dusty) found a spot that I thought would work. Looking NW away from Phoenix, the sky was dark(er), making the comet and andromeda visible. I had 3 setups: Esprit 80mm with QHY268 (picture to follow), Canon Rebel 6Ti on a star-adventurer (this sky shot) and a Canon 6D M2 doing a timelapse, and blue-hour shots. I so much wanted to get Saguaro Cactus in the shot, and thankfully, I picked a good spot, the clouds cleared, and my boy scout compass worked Getting the 2 rigs polar-aligned as soon as Polaris was visible, then find the comet was the trick...can't waste any time, because it was quickly setting behind the landscape.

This is a blend of 25 shots from the Canon Rebel, 90 sec each, f6.3 ISO 800, and blue hour shot from the Canon 6D M2, ISO 200, 1/10sec, F8. both at about 90mm.
